On Saturday July 21, two groups of the School of Folklore and Cultural Association Orballo participated in the “XXIV Xuntanza Folclórica” organized by the Association Airiños do Frade, San Martin, Cabanas.
The event began at 18.00 hours, and now the turn of Orballo, school groups, accompanied by bagpipers, performed four dances.
At the end of the act, there was a gift-giving occasion of the participation in the Festival Association for each participant.
On July 16, Folkloric and Cultural Association Orballo, participated in the procession in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, invited by the Guild of Pontedeume Fishing, playing the traditional Arcos Dance Guild.
The members of the Association, accompanied the virgin from the output of the guild to where embarked for the voyage by sea, having celebrated a solemn mass sung by the Polyphonic Choir Eumesa.
On his return from the voyage, was again received by the Traditional Dance performed by Orballo Arcos, to reach their place of origin.
This past weekend we celebrated THE END OF COURSE Orballo.
On Saturday 16, all alumni / ae of the school of our association, meeting at the rehearsal, demonstrated their skills in different types of activity taking place in our school: traditional dance, traditional singing and tambourine, and harmonica. On Sunday June 3, was held at the Boardwalk Pontedeume the twenty-ninth edition of the “Día da Muiñeira” Pontedeume.
The event involved a total of ten associations from different parts of the province. It started at 17.30 with a parade which started from the Alameda Raxoi, and continued by the main streets of the town Eumesa to reach the venue of the event, the promenade. Continue reading
On Friday June 1, the group of Orballo tambourine players were invited to perform at the Festival Closing activities to Retirees Club Course in Pontedeume Novacaixagalicia Foundation.
The performance began at 18.00 hours, in which those present could hear the different rhythms Traditional, played to the sound of tambourines, frame drums and cans, as well as being accompanied by the voices of traditional singers.
From here, we want to thank the Foundation for the invitation.
On Friday May 25, a dance group from the School of AFC Orballo has performed at theMunicipal Nursery Pontedeume.
The event started at 19.00, where children could enjoy the traditional music and dancethat the children in our school performed.
We show here our gratitude to the Municipal Nursery, by the fact that every year our association agreed to try their alumn ’s become familiar with the sound and rhythm of traditional music of Galicia.
On 3 June 2012, Folk and Cultural Association Orballo (Pontedeume) will hold its “XXIX gives Muiñeira Day”.

Next Thursday 17th of Maio, to celebrate the Day of Galician Letters dedicated to Valentín Paz Andrade, two groups of the School of Dance Orballo AFC, will perform at the Royal Plaza Pontedeume. The 1st of May, the students of our school participated in the dance contest held each year Mays Pontedeume City Council, with two figures of May, which corresponded to the names “Cruzeiro” and “Asubio Eume”. The competition is the development of traditional May figures made entirely with vegetation, designed according to tradition, is celebrating the arrival of spring.
As every year, the first day of May, in the village of Pontedeume, marks the traditional contest Mayos. Every year in this celebration of traditional Galician culture, our association involved presenting two traditional May figures, which are produced by the alumn ’s school of dance.
The celebration is a parade through the streets of the townEumesa, down to the Mall Raxoi, venue of the event where all participating associations must announce the songs or sing songs of May. Note that the maximum age of the participantsreached to sixteen years.
As a legacy of our participation, here’s a snippet of a songwith which alumn ’s of our association participated in previous editions:
