As every year, the first day of May, in the village of Pontedeume, marks the traditional contest Mayos. Every year in this celebration of traditional Galician culture, our association involved presenting two traditional May figures, which are produced by the alumn ’s school of dance.
The celebration is a parade through the streets of the townEumesa, down to the Mall Raxoi, venue of the event where all participating associations must announce the songs or sing songs of May. Note that the maximum age of the participantsreached to sixteen years.
As a legacy of our participation, here’s a snippet of a songwith which alumn ’s of our association participated in previous editions:
“Pontedeume boa vila,
Conservando a tradición,
Celebra a festa dos Maios,
Sempre con moita ilusión”.
